Amos 5:21-24 New Living Translation (NLT) 21 “I hate all your show and pretense— the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies. 22 I will not accept your burnt offerings and grain offerings. I won’t even notice all your choice peace offerings. 23 Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. 24 Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living. If it's to tick a box and 'feel justified' If it's to 'keep to the schedule' If it's more about you than it is about Him. If it's just a show, an offering made at no cost, If it's a song where you read the verse and the lyrics and don't know what they mean, Or even care about who you are saying them to. Instead bring to the altar, Justice. Instead bring a river of righteousness, Instead of love for self, a love of your creator, That you be re-created for real, instead of a show. Stop doing your devotions, if it's an excuse to say you've done your religious duty, Start spending time with God.
